Traffic Bureau

The Tenafly Police Traffic Bureau is currently down two officers and only staffed by one Sergeant.

Responsibilities

The division is responsible for handling all traffic-related issues in the Borough from parking enforcement to crash investigations. They also perform a number of tasks that help ease traffic problems and enhance public safety on our roads.

Department of Public Works (DPW)

In addition to enforcement of motor vehicle laws, the sergeant works with the DPW to make recommendations to improve intersections, pedestrian crosswalks, sign placement, and other related items. They also focus their attention around our schools at pick-up and drop-off times, assisting with traffic and pedestrian safety.

Enforcement of Traffic Laws

The Traffic Bureau conducts periodic seat belts and driving while under the influence (DWI) checkpoints, inspection checks, and speed enforcement details. This Bureau handles all correspondence we received concerning traffic or speeding complaints. After receiving a complaint or concern, officers will respond, address the problem, and take the necessary steps to provide long-term solutions when possible.

Additional Services

As additional services to the community, they install child car safety seats for Tenafly Residents Only, give safety talks, and conduct bicycle registrations. To arrange a child seat installation by one of our certified installation technicians, or to report any traffic-related problem, email Sergeant Chris Bozzo, email Captain deMoncada, or email Chief Chamberlain.
