Here in Tenafly, we are not exempt from homeland security threats. Our diverse population, high profile facilities, and proximity to New York City should make us mindful of safety and security. It’s called Homeland Security because, in a post-9/11 world, we are all tasked with protecting the place we call home. I ask all of our residents to be alert and aware of any suspicious activity and report it immediately. As I have said many times to community groups and others I speak to if it concerns you, let it concern us; that’s why we’re here. The men and women of this agency are sworn to protect you and we will respond to investigate any and all concerns. By working together, we can keep our community safe from all dangers, including the terrorism concerns we share with people all over the world. - Retired Chief Michael Bruno
The Current Terrorism Threat Level
The Department of Homeland Security has determined that the Threat Level remains at Yellow (Elevated) which became effective on November 10, 2004.
While this is good news, the elevated level still indicates a significant risk of terrorist attacks, so increased awareness is still the order of the day.
