Amendment to Recreation & Open Space Inventory

The Mayor and Borough Council will conduct a public hearing at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008 in the Council Chamber located in the Municipal Center at 100 Riveredge Road, Tenafly, NJ.

The purpose the public hearing is to consider an amendment to the Recreation & Open Space Inventory (ROSI), dated September 12, 1994, in order to properly describe the portion of the 13.9 acres at the Tenafly Municipal Center, known as Block 1008, Lot 1, located at 100 Riveredge Road, that was intended to be held for recreation and conservation purposes.

The ROSI submitted as a component of a project agreement to obtain Green Acres funding in 1994 did not accurately or completely describe the lands at the Tenafly Municipal Center held for recreation and conservation purposes. The ROSI submitted by the Borough at that time indicated a portion of Lot 1 was to be held for recreation and conservation purposes for the existing basketball courts, children’s playground and athletic fields. The remaining land at the site was occupied by the Tenafly Municipal Center and reserved for future expansion of the Municipal Center to the south and to the west according to the 1978 Tenafly Master Plan. It is the Borough’s intent to use a portion of the land to the west of the current municipal building for a new Tenafly Police Headquarters.

The public is invited to attend the hearing and comment on the proposed amendment. Written comments may be submitted at the public hearing or, in the alternative, submitted to the Borough of Tenafly and addressed to Nancy Hatten, Borough Clerk, Borough of Tenafly, 100 Riveredge Road, Tenafly, NJ 07670 during the public comment period. Copies of any written comments shall also be sent to:

The public comment period will close at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008.

Copies of information in support of the Borough’s ROSI amendment are available to the public for inspection at the Office of the Borough Clerk and the Tenafly Public Library, 100 Riveredge Road, Tenafly, NJ, during regular business hours.
