Special Needs Registration Form
This program is for any of our residents who have special needs, including persons with physical disbilities or impairments, or those who require might require special handling during a response by emergency services personnel. The Police Chief worked closely with the Tenafly ADA Committee to draft a regsitration form which provides the police department with a wealth of information that would be useful for police, fire and ambulance personnel in the event they have to repsond to assist you. Once the form is completed and returned to the Police Department, the police computer system will automatically notify dispatch personnel that there is important information available to responding units. The form will be virtually "at their fingertips" to provide the necssary information to the responding units. The registration form is available at Police HQ (in the forms rack in the lobby), in the Borough Hall at the Information Center, at the Tenafly Library, the Senior Center, and can be downloaded by clicking HERE.
Peace of Mind Program - For residents who have the responsibility of taking care of a family member or friend with Alzheimers Disease or who is similarly handicapped and might wander from the home and be unable to provide information as to their address or identity. This program allows the person to be registered with our agency, and have their photo and contact information on file at HQ in the event the Police locate them away from the home, or to assist in locating them should they be separated from their caregivers. For forms or more information, please contact Chief Bruno at Police HQ.
Home Security Surveys - a Detective will make an appointment to assess your home for security deficiencies, and will make recommendations to keep you and your family safer.
Identi-Kid Program - our agency provides fingerprinting cards and kits free of charge to any resident which enables them to document and store their child's fingerprints so that they have them in the event of an emergency. Our officers will also assist with this effort for groups, classes, etc. upon request. The Identi-Kits are available at HQ.
Portable Alarms - we provide a portable alarm system for our residents who do not have an alarm system while they are on vacation or away for a few days. This system alerts police if activated just like a regular home system.
Child Car Seat Installations - a specially trained officer certified in car seat installation will properly install your child car seat in vehicle. You do not need to be a resident for this service.
Free Child Car Seats - we offer free child car seats for people who cannot afford to purchase them while supplies last. You do not need to be a resident for this service.
Public Speakers/Lecturers - Our officers will be happy to come and speak to your business, organization, or civic group on a wide variety of topics including personal safety, contingency planning, crime prevention, identity theft, internet safety (for children and/or parents) and many others. In most cases, we can tailor the presentation to your goup's particular needs.
Bicycle Registration - we will register your bicycle so it is more easily identified if lost or stolen.
Project ChildSafe - we offer free gunlocks to provide additional safety for the children of people who have legally-owned firearms in their homes. These can be picked up in our lobby at Police HQ anytime.
