Services for our Residents

The Tenafly Police Department Means Public Service!!

We have a wide variety of services available for our residents. Below is a brief description of some of them. If you are interested in taking advantage of any of them or want more information, just click on the link and your email will be directed to the appropriate officer for assistance. All of these services are provided at no cost.

Medicine Drop Box  24 hours/7 days a week drug disposal drop box.  The box is located in the police department's front lobby.  All disposals are made anonymously.  Click on "Medicine Drop Box" for specific rules and instructions.

Special Needs Registration Form This program is for any of our residents who have special needs, including persons with physical disabilities or impairments, or those who require might require special handling during a response by emergency services personnel. The Police Chief worked closely with the Tenafly ADA Committee to draft a registration form which provides the police department with a wealth of information that would be useful for police, fire and ambulance personnel in the event they have to respond to assist you. Once the form is completed and returned to the Police Department, the police computer system will automatically notify dispatch personnel that there is important information available to responding units. The form will be virtually "at their fingertips" to provide the necessary information to the responding units. The registration form is available at Police HQ (in the forms rack in the lobby), in the Borough Hall at the Information Center, at the Tenafly Library, the Senior Center, or by clicking the HERE

Peace of Mind Program has now been merged into the Special Needs Program listed above. The program was created for residents who have the responsibility of taking care of a family member or friend with Alzheimer's Disease or who is similarly handicapped and might wander from the home and be unable to provide information as to their address or identity. This program allows the person to be registered with our agency, and have their photo and contact information on file at HQ in the event the Police locate them away from their home, or to assist in locating them should they be separated from their care givers. Click HERE for registration form.

Resident Emergency Contact Information will be kept on file in the department's in-house computer system to be used in the event we need to contact you in response to an emergency.

Home Security Surveys - a Detective will make an appointment to assess your home for security deficiencies, and will make recommendations to keep you and your family safer.

Identi-Kid Program - our agency provides fingerprinting cards and kits free of charge to any resident which enables them to document and store their child's fingerprints so that they have them in the event of an emergency. Our officers will also assist with this effort for groups, classes, etc. upon request. The Identi-Kits are available at HQ.

Child Car Seat Installations - This service is for Tenafly residents only!  To arrange an appointment, call 201-568-5100 and ask for the service.  You will be asked if you're a Tenafly resident prior to an appointment being made.  For non-residents, visit www.seatcheck.org for a list of organizations and agencies that can perform the installation for you.  You can also make an appointment by emailing one of the following 4 technicians directly:    cbozzo@tenafly.netbbarnes@tenafly.net, pbaumuller@tenafly.net.

Public Speakers/Lecturers - Our officers will be happy to come and speak to your business, organization, or civic group on a wide variety of topics including personal safety, contingency planning, crime prevention, identity theft, internet safety (for children and/or parents) and many others. In most cases, we can tailor the presentation to your group's particular needs.

Project ChildSafe - we offer free gunlocks to provide additional safety for the children of people who have legally-owned firearms in their homes. These can be picked up in our lobby at Police HQ anytime.
