The term "coffee klatch" comes from the German word, "kaffeeklatsch," which translates to coffee(kaffee)+gossip(klatsch). It refers to a group of friends getting together over a cup of coffee, join us once a month for this casual gathering.

Thursday, September 8th at 2:00 PM – Let' talk about well-meaning but controlling adult children- Senior Center 

Too often our adult children, with the best of intentions try to take over our lives. We will discuss: Why this is happening at this stage of our lives, strategies to deal with this new reality, communication styles and actions steps to be taken. Vivian Green Korner, MA CDP

Come relax and enjoy an evening of beautiful singing. " Voices of Bergen County" will entertain you. This festival is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Traditional treats will be served.  

Friday, September 9th at 4:00 PM – Tenafly Police PBA Picnic 55+- Senior Center 

The Tenafly PBA will once again hold its annual picnic at the Center for Tenafly residents 55+and Senior Center Members. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. Senior bus will be available.

Monday, September 12th at 1:00 PM – Chinese Brush Painting- Senior Center 

$50 for 6 weeks. Want to learn something new? Sign up for this class. This class provides training in the fundamentals of traditional brush painting, its principles, techniques, subjects matters and styles.  Class size is limited.

Sergeant Nicholas Roux is a Patrol Sergeant with the Tenafly Police Department. Sgt. Roux was born and raised in Tenafly and graduated from Tenafly High School  in 1997. He became a Police Dispatcher for the City of Englewood in 2000  and worked there until being hired as a Police Officer in Tenafly in 2001. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and immediately became the supervisor of the Community Policing and L.E.A.D. Law Enforcement against Drugs (formally know as DARE) Units.  Sgt. Roux has also served the community as a volunteer fire fighter since 1997. In his free time he enjoys traveling with his wife and two kids.

James Brown (the soul singer) recorded a song called "It's A Man's Man's World." Abigail Adams, in a letter to John Adams dated March 31,1776, exhorted him to "Remember the Ladies" In this lecture we listen to Abigail and we "REMEMBER THE LADIES." Joel Farkas will be giving this presentation.

Monday, September 23rd at 2:00 PM – Alfred Hitchcock- Senior Center 

Sir Alfred Hitchcock has been acknowledge as "The Master of Suspense." To understand how he reached this pinnacle of acclamation, we will explore his background that ultimately led to six decades of directing over fifty feature films, many if which are now regards as classics. Larry Wolfert will be doing this presentation. 

Tuesday, September 27th at 1:00 PM – From Dust 'til Dawn Remembering the 9-11 - Senior Center

The Aftermath in Pictures "Now I feel I have something to say with my lens, unfortunately, it took a tragedy to find out what I can do for the remainder of my years."  David Margules' photographs preserve for history the heroic efforts of first responders to clear the twins Towers ruble from the streets of NYC. Come listen to the journey that David has been on since September 11,2001. 

Thursday, September 29th at 10:00 AM – Bone Density Workshop - Senior Center 

Edge Well and Physical Therapy Bone density measurements are used to diagnose osteoporosis(a condition marked by decreased bone mass), to see how well osteoporosis treatments are working, and to predict how likely the bones are to break. Sign up for this workshop.

Monday, September 29th at 1:00 PM –Senior Self Defense  - Senior Center 

The program is taught by Larry Barr, a certified 10th decree Grandmaster. Soke (grandmaster) Barr has been teaching for over 30 years. Learn common sense self-defense! The class consists of breathing, stretching and light movements that have practical self-defense applications. Come focus, get fit and have fun! 

Monday, September 30th at 2:00 PM – The 1960 Presidential Election: Was the Fix In?  - Senior Center 

Before 2020's miniscule 40,000-vite margin, John F. Kennedy's 100,000 popular vote victory over Richard Nixon (of 68,000,000 votes cast) was the closest in post-1900 U.S presidential elections. James Devine will be giving this informative talk.
