Thursday, Feb. 2 at 2:00- Senior Self Defense– Part 1 - Senior Center 

The program is taught by Larry Barr, a certified 10th degree Grandmaster. Soke Barr has been teaching for over 30 years. Learn common sense self defense! The class consists of breathing , stretching and light movements that have practical self defense applications. Come focus, get fit and have fun! Part 2 is Feb 9– PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED

Fri. Feb 3 at 2:00 -Could the South have Won? - Senior Center 

The Confederacy had four legitimate chances to win its independence: one each militarily, economically, diplomatically and electorally, according to James Devine, who has lectured on American and world history for over a decade at Bergen Community College. Join us on Friday, February 3, at 2 p.m. as Mr. Devine returns again to the TSC to evaluate these opportunities. Learn why these chances came to naught despite the best efforts of the Confederacy's generals, diplomats, politicians...and spies; saboteurs and foreign sympathizers. 

Tues. Feb. 7 at 1:00-Coffee Klatch  - Senior Center

The term “coffee klatch” comes from the German word, “kaffeeklatsch,” which translates to coffee (kaffee) + gossip (klatsch). It refers to a group of friends getting together over a cup of coffee, join us once a month for this casual gathering.

Fri., Feb 10 at 1:00- The Woman Who Loved Giraffes Documentary - Senior Center 

 

Dr. Anne Innis Dagg retraces the steps of her groundbreaking 1956 journey to South Africa to study giraffes in the wild – and discovers a startling contrast between the world of giraffes she once knew and the one it has become. Weaving through the past and present, her harrowing journey gives us an intimate look into the factors that destroyed her career and the forces that brought her back.

A young George Washington’s visit to Barbados influenced the American Revolution. Instead of a pleasant winter trip to an idyllic tropical paradise, George becomes seriously ill and while recuperating educates himself on the island’s military defenses. Join us to learn how this “working vacation” played an important role in General Washington’s career.

Monday, Feb 27 at 2:00 Pastries with the Police - Senior Center

Patrolman Vincent Libretti is a Patrol Officer with the Tenafly Police Department. Officer Libretti grew up in Ramsey, NJ graduating from Ramsey High School in 2012. After graduating high school Officer Libretti enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and attended college at Ramapo College of New Jersey. After graduating college Officer Libretti deployed to Afghanistan in 2018. Officer Libretti worked for Amazon after returning from active duty and then joined the Tenafly Police Department in 2021. Since joining the police department Officer Libretti has become a member of the community policing unit, and a L.E.A.D (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) instructor. Officer Libretti likes to play hockey, golf, and spend time with his family in his free time.
